- If a Whale Shark exits a Warm habitat, it will lose temperature (10 seconds).
- If a Whale Shark exits a Shallow habitat, it will lose pressure (20 seconds).
- If a Whale Shark exits a Fresh habitat, it will lose salinity (20 seconds), except if it's on dry land, where the timer stops but does not regenerate.
- Whale Sharks can eat plankton
, ice
, reef food
, volcano food
, flappy ducks
, humans
, meat
, Stonefish barbs
, Anglerfish bait, and bird poop

Remora s | ![]() |
N/A | Hold down boost to command your Remoras to attack targets. This does not consume boosts. As long as the boost is held, the Remoras will attack the targets in range according to the following priority:
Upon hitting their target, the Remora will die and deal 100 damage to its' target. It will also inflict a 15% slow onto whatever animal it hit. Once a Remora dies, a boost bar will be consumed. Once every Remora is dead, the Whale Shark will gain a +20% speed boost. (For further information: see Remora) |
Passive Abilities[]
- Each boost of a Whale Shark represents a Remora. Upon filling a boost bar, a Remora will spawn as a Whale Shark Drone and follow its host (the Whale Shark that spawned it) around, orbiting it if it stays still. A Whale Shark can have up to four drones.
- Whale Sharks are immune to grabs, Whale suctions, and turbulent waters (a.k.a whirlpools).
Skins[]
Skins are cosmetics used to change an animal's looks, or sometimes, an animal’s biome or size statistics slightly. The table below shows the list of approved skins that can be used for the Whale Shark.
Realistic skins can be used in every time of the year. They are mostly based on real-life species, or adjectives such as 'Battle-Scarred' or 'Dark'.

But, usually in deeper waters, the whale shark will appear to change from their true color, a brownish marroon, into blueish green and purple hues, sometimes even both. Random_Rhincodontid | 27th June, 2024 | None | Whale sharks are often seen swarmed by many small fish, such as the live sharksucker (Echeneis naucrates) and juvenile golden trevally (Gnathanodon speciosus). These fish gain protection, as many predators are scared away by the large shark. The whale shark also benefits, as its parasites are removed by its companions. Random_Rhincodontid | 27th June, 2024 | None | The whale shark (Rhincodon typus) is known for its remarkable patterns which serve as camouflage for juvenile sharks. A dark backside covered in elaborate light spots allows the shark to blend in with the shimmering waters of the ocean when viewed from above, and a white underbelly camouflages the shark against the bright surface from below. Each whale shark's pattern is completely unique, allowing scientists to use these patterns like fingerprints to identify specific sharks. | ![]() |

Strategies[]
- Whale Sharks are unable to dash, which makes them bad at pursuing and hunting prey. As a Whale Shark it's best to play defensively, only use your Remoras when your opponent is low during a facetank and finish them off while you have your speed boost.
- Always keep on a look out for food, they help to regenerate your health and Remoras.
- Whale shark stands 0 chance against any semi decent duo.
- Whale Sharks are extremely helpless in FFA, due to the wide dispersion of food and its inability to dash, a Whale Shark recovers boosts very slowly and will be reduced to atoms byplayers who know how to hit and run. It has lower health and damage than other tanks too, to make matters worse. Hence, it is almost impossible to see a Whale Shark in FFA.
- Whale Sharks stand a better chance with the support of its teammates in TFFA or PD. Damage from Remoras could immediately finish an enemy under 400 health off, turn tides by exerting pressure, and slow down foes so that its allies can take advantage.
- A fun thing to do is to stay near Clam Shells in Pearl Defense so that the shell is defended by 14 remoras instead of 10. This suits the Whale Shark's defensive playstyle, and acts as extra damage to swiftly kill tanky animals, even the Whale. Don't try this if the animal in question is an Atlantic Torpedo, wait for it to attack first before defending with your Remoras.
- While being unviable in most gamemodes, the Whale Shark is usuable in 1v1. Whale shark is decent in this gamemode, however it is incredibly vulnerable to timer stalls and not exactly among the best 1v1 animals.
- Whale shark got nerfed for no reason, the remoras no longer collide , don't try to hold the enemies with your remoras they will just go through it.
Trivia[]
- The Whale Shark is not invincible to Pearl Drone Remoras that orbit the Clam Shells in Pearl Defense.
- Whale Shark is the only animal in the game to, by default, have 4 boosts, while other animals have between 1 to 3.
- This can, however, can be surpassed by the Manta Ray with correct loadouts in its aura. Manta Rays can have up to six boosts!
- In real life, the Whale Shark is a ram-breather: it could only breathe while moving, much like the Great White Shark. However, before the Snow and Below Update only the Shark had its oxygen meter deplete while staying still, while the mechanic did not apply to Whale Sharks. This mechanics was later removed in recent updates and Sharks can now stay still without problem, marking the extinction of 'ram-breathing' mechanics.
- The Whale Shark is crowned as the most underpowered Tier 10 Animal in Deeeep.io. Unbelievable? Play a few games as it and the answer will become clear. It is slow yet reliant on food to regenerate its Remoras, completely helpless when out of boosts, and other animals do a lot better than it in team-plays. The only place where it shines is 1 vs 1, yet it's not even close to the meta. Hence, let's think of a rework for the Whale Shark and post it on Deeeep.io's Official Discord Server, Subreddit and forum. I'm sure that if FedericoMouse, the Crabinet and dwellers of the deeeep work together, we'll find a solution for this problem, and make Whale Shark a fun animal for everyone to enjoy! #justiceforwhaleshark #longlivejohnfallot
