The hermit crab is a tier 4 animal. It is based on its real life counterpart, the Halloween Hermit Crab, Ciliopagurus strigatus. It is designed by u/ManManBoii.
Mechanics[ | ]
- All tier 3 animals evolve into hermit crab.
- Because of this, the hermit crab also evolves into every tier 5 animal.
- Hermit crabs drop meat upon death.
- As you are a hermit crab You cannot be harmed by Coconut Crabs.

Passive Abilities[ | ]
- You can walk on terrain and islands at 10% faster speed.
- You can wear shells.
- This, consequentially causes your speed to fall to 50% and you start to sink.
- This does not apply when you are walking on terrain.
- This, consequentially causes your speed to fall to 50% and you start to sink.
- You can climb all types of trees except for the Broken Tree, however you cannot hide in trees.
- Is not slowed down by coral fans or table corals.
Active Abilities[ | ]
- Boosting normally causes you to dash forward and deal 25% more damage to animals you hit.
- Charge boosting does nothing unless you are at a shell. There are 3 different types of shells, they are:
- Low Armor: Gives you 50% armor. Low Armor shells can be found in Brown, Pink, and Beige colors.
- Medium Armor: Gives you 60% armor. Medium Armor shells are found in Red Blue, and Purple colors.
- High Armor: Gives you 70% armor. High Armor shells are found in Yellow, Blue-ish Gray, and White colors.
- Charge boosting with a shell on you while walking causes you to be invincible.
- You can hide in the shell for as long as it has health. Health is taken from the shell when it is attacked or when the hermit is dealt damage from biome afflictions (The shell will take the damage instead).
- Charge boosting with a shell on you while swimming causes you to drop the shell.
Type 1 = Low Armor, type 2 = Medium Armor, and type 3 = High Armor.
Suitable Biomes[ | ]
- The hermit crab's suitable biomes are the Ocean and the Deeeep.
- If a hermit crab attempts to enter the ocean surface, it will lose oxygen. Thankfully its oxygen lasts long enough so this doesn't matter.
- If a hermit crab attempts to enter the arctic, it will lose temperature.
- If a hermit crab attempts to enter the arctic surface, it will lose oxygen and temperature.
- If a hermit crab attempts to enter the swamp, it will lose salinity.
- If a hermit crab attempts to enter the swamp surface, it will lose oxygen and salinity.
